Stick a Pitchfork in me, I’m done with summer festivals

If it weren’t for Stephen Malkmus, I probably would have successfully avoided all of this year’s summer nonsense, but alas, it looks like I might end up spending $25 to visit Pitchfork on one of the three days (hopefully the same day Sonic Youth and De La Soul play).
So what do y’all think about the lineup? Anyone planning on going? I think I might start doing situps this weekend in preparation for finally being able to represent the Shirtless Douchebags of Chicago Club. I will also make sure I grow out my back hair…

Pitchfork has a consistantly good lineup every year. I like 2007 because of Melkmus and Pornographers and Montreal.
And if you’re going to be there, how can I stay away?
Not interested in Menomena or Deerhunter?
just saw menomena at the empty bottle a couple weeks back, but could definitely see them again. not really that interested in deerhunter…
So I just decided fairly last-minute to go to Coachella. I’m pretty psyched. I heard Pavement is doing their one and only reunion show there. Okay I lied, but I’m still holding out hope.
Malkmus is also my top priority for this years p-fest. I’m usually antifestival, since they tend to have shitty sound, a lot of bands I don’t care for, and a schedule that forces me to miss many of the ones that I do care for, but p-fest tends to minimize such evils. It’s always hot as hades, however. Personally, I think one should get a douche pass for going shirtless when the heat index tops 95…
