Pitchfork ‘07

Only one of our esteemed colleagues managed to attend Pitchfork this past weekend — see the good Reverend’s review at Action-Squad.

I was originally planning on attending on Sunday, but made a last-second decision not to go due to the facts that:

  1. I spent 2pm through 2am drinking the day before (USA football at Small Bar, Hot Fuzz at Brew and View, Long Islands at Leona’s, fin).
  2. I wasn’t truly ready to leave the house until after the Menomena set was already over.
  3. I heard a rumor that Malkmus was playing by himself, all acoustic, which still would have been nice to see, but didn’t quite manage to make this a “must attend” event.

All in all, I’m not too upset I missed it, though I heard De La Soul was really good. Still trying to find out if they played “Bitties in the BK Lounge,” which will surely induce immediately regret if/once confirmed (can someone confirm this?).

Next outdoor festival to be reviewed but not attended: Lolla07.

I wasn’t there either (drunk on and seemingly endless supply of wine in Northern Michigan), but a very reputable source indicated that it was a decent showing of musicians and their instrumentation.
