DA-worthy?
A reader recently wrote in to RTP asking:
“As Lollapalooza descends upon us, I have to wonder, is Perry Ferrell a douchebag? He’s clearly very media savvy, and quite the little business man. He loves Chicago and loves Mayor Daley, and I like that about him. The question is: do you think he should be allowed to get away with this?”
Good question, dear reader. I for one, am not quite ready to bestow official DB honors on Perry for the very reasons you cite in your note, but I’ll let the rest of you be the judges…

Nah, Perry’s missing something that other DB’s have. I’m not sure what it is. At first it seemed that it might be his inner nerd. As in, he probably got picked on while young & this disqualifies him, but Jack White probably lost his lunch money daily & I was all for his nomination. It might have something to do with his not taking hiself too seriously. Sure, he can be intense, and that movie he put out about his fucking his OD’d wife was pretty serious, but there seems to always be enough absurdity involved that he must know OTHER people wont take him seriously. Our other nominees however, they seem like the kind who might walk off stage if the audience was paying close enough attention.
