Rockommercial: Sprint in Helsinki

Another nice rock placement on the TV advertising circuit, this time for Architecture in Helsinki’s “Souvenirs,” track two from their 2004 Fingers Crossed album. I actually really like this commercial — it’s just unfortunate that it’s for Sprint (admittedly, all U.S. wireless carriers have their drawbacks, but in my experience, Sprint takes the cake). Actual one-minute ad posted below along with a behind the scenes look at how it was made, which is also pretty darn cool.
On a separate but related note, I saw these guys when they played Schuba’s in Chicago early last year to support their In Case We Die release, and it was, hands down, one of the top three shows I’ve ever seen at that venue, and that’s saying something.
I’m not too crazy about this year’s Places Like This release, but I’ve also only given it a couple semi-distracted listens — it’s definitely on my list to give it its due attention. Anyone out there had the chance to fully digest the new record yet?

I’ve digested Places Like This and consider it a weak release. I’m not sure what they were going for, but the fun seems to have gone somewhere else, maybe they left it in Helsinki. Either way it’s pretty sucky.
Agreed. It doesn’t do much for me.
IMHO, something better than Helsinki’s latest is Cross by Justice, whose music seems as if it was created by Ministry’s love children. Benom got me into Ratatat last year, and some of this release has a similar feel.
Don’t mean to stereotype, but I’m not surprised Justice are from Paris.
