Let it be. No, seriously.
Have we all had the misfortune to see the trailer for the new movie musical sensory-raping abomination of celluloid & sound that’s being called Across the Universe? Let’s take the greatest pop songs ever written and RUIN THEM BEYOND ALL RECOGNITION! RIGHT?!
*sigh* I didn’t see Dream Girls, but I’m pretty sure this is Exhibit B on how its success is going to be responsible for a whole lotta crap in the future. Exhibit A.
Oh, and Bono’s in it. He sings “I Am the Douchebag Walrus”. The whole thing deserves a concise, scathing rant. In this matter, as I do whenever possible, I must defer to Ted Leo.

Holy crap! That clip with bono is truly outrageous. I do appreciate that he is annunciating the words, though, and the bit of acting that goes along with his songbird delivery is duly noted, and really adds something to the overall performance, I believe. Wow, that is bad.
I was actually semi-excited when I saw this commercial, but then all excitement was sucked out me once I found out Bono was involved.
Please tell me Chris Martin is also lending a hand in exploiting the Beatles…
I hate everything about this movie. Mostly because it involves baby-boomers being the selfish hippies they are.
I hate my parents’ generation.
Hey now, you guys are being a bit too harsh. Like when you said that the songs were ruined beyond all recognition - I mean, I recognized at least a couple of them…
wow. without rtp i would have gone to see this movie and been completely disappointed and outraged. Thanks RTP!
If we can stop even one person from seeing this piece of garbage, then it’s all worth it.
I’m still not convinced, considering the original poster of this post is a man that doesn’t even like Radiohead. Seriously, if you don’t like Radiohead, how can one trust that you truly like or dislike anything?
(That’s right, Mark. I’ve outed you as a non-fan of Radiohead, and yet a self-proclaimed fan of music. How do you sleep at night?)
Oh I like Radiohead just fine…up to and including The Bends (alright, and like, half of OK Computer).
That’s right. Everyone point and stare at the nerd…
And I don’t even want to bring Ted Leo into fued, but I will if I have to.
HA! I actually had a sentence about you and TL at the end of my last comment, but I took it out to keep the peace.
Anyways, probably in your best interest to keep him out of this, Mr. B.
