The Hives Never Disappoint
The Hives came through Chicago last night and without fail, once again rocked my ass off. The Hives put on the best live show of any band touring today. Period. The albums, while full of good rock just do not quite capture the live show. When was the last time you spent an entire show with your hands in the air? How about the last time that you spent the entire show jumping up and down? (see video)
I see a lot of shows, I even spend a good portion of them dancing (although really its more like a constant bobbing) but occasionally there are a few shows that will move me to lose my mind. As my cohort Ryan said “I left 100% sweaty and about 75% of it was mine.” Its fun to get down in the pit and punch a few 15-year olds every now and again. It’s pure rock & roll. There’s much to say but describing the energy and excitement of a Hives show must be seen to be believed.
Also, note to Maroon5: What are you thinking trying to follow The Hives for a whole tour. Never bring a band on tour that will undoubtedly blow you the fuck out of the water night after night. You must feel real bad.
The Hives tour throughout the US with Maroon5 and playing one-off shows during that tour as well. New album in the UK The Black & White Album Oct. 8, US release sometime in November.

I’m not gonna front and say I don’t have some Maroon 5 on my iPod, but the mesh factor there seems mighty low. They must feel bad indeed. Although, maybe they fly Jessica Simpson in every once in a while to “cheer up” the guys.
