Guitar Rocksgiving
In every city, in every state in the United States of America the program director of a classic rock station is waking up from a self-induced coma–the result of mixing NyQuil, Bartel & James and Oxycotin. It’s not what he planned, just what the hooker brought with her.
As he searched for his tan pants, he realizes that tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and that means an entire morning of Arlo Guthrie’s song “Alice’s Restaurant” played every hour on the hour. He loves it, because Arlo is as much of a burned out wreck as he is.
He gets to the office, dusts off the 45, then remembers that everything is on computer, so he puts the 45 back in its sleeve and takes another Oxycotin, because his back hurts (or so he’s convinced himself). Then he passes out on the worn wool sofa that’s been in his office since 1977.
Since it will be played ad-nauseum tomorrow, and it’s nothing more than a constantly repeating chord progression that goes on for 20 minutes, here is Alice’s Restau… wait EFF THAT!
If we as American’s are going to be thankful for something, let’s give thanks for real rock and/or roll music. Here’s Violent Femmes.

It never occured to me how much Gordon Gano apes David Byrne, which goes a long way towards explaining why I love the VF’s so much.
Love that song, but I’d never seen the video before. GOOD TIMES.
I too love the Violent Femmes. Thanks for posting the video
