I left a party to listen to this record tonight.
All my favorite coworkers were eating free food and drinking free beer (even Dogfish Head’s 90 Minute IPA) when someone’s iPod’s playlist played two songs off of this album. That’s when I knew I was going to have to leave early; Early enough to get home & listen to this from start to finish before going to bed. I couldn’t help myself. Once I heard the first bars of “King of Carrot Flowers Pt. One” I had an itch that had to be scratched. Many albums that hold similar stature in the Respectable Musical Cannon of my generation are albums that the listener has to “get” in order to enjoy. This album, however, gets the listener - its appeal is a visceral one.
As such I should stop writing about it. Just in time too - I need to flip the record.

I woke up at 7:15am after reading this post from my iPhone in bed and listened to this record too. Great any time, but particularly satisfying on a Saturday morning.
