Guitar Friday
Last night was the kickoff of the Waterfront Film Festival in Saugatuck, about 15 minutes down the lakeshore from RTP’s Michigan headquarters. The first showing is an outdoor screening, but before the sky turns dark and the projecter can run, the festival hosts live music.
Typically it’s crappy local bands, but this year, since they’re showing an indie all about Rick James, titled I Am Rick James, they invited The Stone City Band to headline. They were rockin’, they were funky. Everyone was dancing, from families with kids to the biker dykes and cowboy queens. It was beautiful.
Here’s an old video of the Stone City band playing Superfreak.
