Lollopalooza Complete Lineup Announced
FINAL LOLLAPALOOZA LINEUP
Is this even news any longer?
While there is no way I will attend this festival of human kindness, I do like reading through the list of bands and noting which I would like to see. Alas, they will likely be drowned out by a larger stage sound system or booked […]
Jill’s Next Record
Our favorite one-hit pop/folkie Jill Sobule is earning raves for her new release - and to my knowledge, nobody has even heard it yet.
Why?
Because she conducted a successful fundraising effort through her website and found a way to self-produce it through online donations from fans.
Way to go Jill.
2008 Music: “2007 can suck it”
This post comes a little later in the year than I planned but nonetheless there are still many shiny new digital files to look forward to this year. A short list of some anticipated and noteworthy albums of 2008:
March 4th:
White Hinterland

RTP07 Top 10: quirken
I agree with FrazerJames: building my list of top 10 records for 2007 was much harder than I thought it would be. Too often, great records had to be left off my list because they started strong, but finished weakly. While the list struggled at times from six through 10, my top […]
Rockommercial: Siriusly cool ad, but I’m still not convinced
Although there’s no doubt that the commercial is great, I don’t see myself trading in my iPod for a Sirius satellite radio any time soon. And by any time soon, I mean ever.
Apple lowers DRM-free song price to $0.99
I knew the new, all-DRM-free Amazon MP3 store would influence me directly at some point. Apple has decided to lower the price of its DRM-free tracks, which up until now cost $1.29, to match their price of their protected tracks at $0.99.
No official word on the reason for the price drop, but one can only […]
Justice: Our attempt to one-up Daft Punk
Well, I didn’t see this live, after swearing off late night television once the Cubs left the West Coast for good this season, but it is worth watching none the less. Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Prince, Rick James and Stevie Wonder straight rocking on Jimmy Kimmel. Gotta say I love this, but I […]
George falls into place on iTunes; Fab Four showing separate but complete
George Harrison was the final Beatle to have his solo work added to iTunes, which happened today. Still waiting on actual Beatles music…
RTP Radio:
PJ Harvey - White Chalk
More like the hall of LAME, right guys? Right? guys…?
I may be the only person under the age of a billion who finds the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions remotely interesting, but for some reason I do. The show on VH1 generally has some decent performances (although, more so when they were going through their Zeppelin/Neil Young/Janis Joplin all in the same […]
Whiney Jill stuck in a rut?
Woe is Jill Sobule. Poor gal whines a bit in her latest tune, picking on record companies, out-of-style execs, plus her own indecisiveness about how to release her new music, and what angles she should be taking that will (we assume) get her back on another big soundtrack.
All the while she doesn’t revel in the […]
