Justice: Our attempt to one-up Daft Punk

Well, I didn’t see this live, after swearing off late night television once the Cubs left the West Coast for good this season, but it is worth watching none the less. Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Prince, Rick James and Stevie Wonder straight rocking on Jimmy Kimmel. Gotta say I love this, but I […]

up ‘n comers

Damn, this buzz band 1990s (no “The” no apostrophe, mind you) sounds pretty good. Their Gorrilaz-esque video aint so bad either. Check it out:
BIDEO!

Ça Plane Pour Moi

My girlfriend, brother and I were all watching the Cubs get destroyed last week when we saw this commerical and all decided that we liked the song in it.
Then we found out it was sung by the Presidents of the United States of America, and so we stopped liking it (seriously, buy a guitar with […]

Can you explain Rhys Chatham?

Quick post.
What the hell is going on with this record.  It sounds like a long drawn out drone to me.   For three songs.  And about 40 minutes.
What am I missing, guys?  Do I need in-ear headphones to enjoy this?  Was my deletion premature?

I don’t want to sound gay or anything, but…

These new Feist videos are great.
Actually, I don’t mind sounding gay at all. The dance routines in these new videos are amazing, especially when they get all Busby Berkeley on us. My not-at-all-educated eye is amazed by the camera work in My Moon My Man, which somehow manages to smoothly keep what must […]

Whistle while you work sell out

what’s happening with the hottest indie rock bands and the biggest corporate entities lately is just a little more than interesting, and just a little different than how things were only a few years ago. remember back in the good old days when it was uncool to even attempt to make money? back then, “selling […]

LCD Soundsystem on Letterman

LCD Soundsystem performing “North American Scum” on the Late Show with David Letterman, April 11, 2007.

One Two Three Four

So I was reading action-squad and I noticed a mention of the Voxtrot self-titled LP. Has somebody heard it? If so, I’d love to know how it sounds. Also in the same post was a link to Feist’s new video. A few comments:
1. I like that blue sequence suit on her, but one time I […]

A mix for my fix

I’ve been very fickle lately. Traditionally an album guy, I’ve recently found myself wanting something new every couple of songs. Putting the old iPod on shuffle doesn’t really do the trick as some of my 11,000 songs suck, but luckily I’ve found solice in indie mixtapes. Anything over 30 minutes, mixing genres and turning […]

There’s gay and then there’s Rufus

Anyone have a line on the new Rufus record, Release the Stars, which is not due to be delivered to the buying public until sometime in May? I want it now! Great possible first single, Going to a Town, located here.
And what the heckle is going on with this guy’s big toe?
